What is Athletic Therapy?

Athletic therapy is a specialized healthcare profession that focuses on the prevention, assessment, and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries and conditions. Athletic Therapists (ATs), combine their knowledge of anatomy, biomechanics, and exercise physiology to provide comprehensive care to athletes and individuals involved in sports and physical activities.

The primary objective of athletic therapy is to restore and optimize the function of athletes and patients as quickly and safely as possible. This is accomplished through a multifaceted approach that includes injury prevention, immediate emergency care, ongoing rehabilitation, and the implementation of therapeutic exercises and techniques.

ATs are trained to perform thorough assessments and diagnostic evaluations to determine the nature and severity of injuries. By utilizing these skills, they can develop personalized treatment plans tailored to the specific needs of their patients.

Rehabilitation plays a crucial role in athletic therapy. ATs design and implement individualized rehabilitation programs to facilitate the healing process and optimize recovery. These programs often include a combination of therapeutic exercises, manual therapies, modalities, and functional training.

What Our Patients Say

  • Braedon is a true professional and with his various combinations of treatments and mobility exercises I have been able to move more efficiently/minimize pain and been able to maximize my training workouts and return to working on the tools. Don’t hesitate to book an appointment, it can change your life.

  • I suffered a debilitating shoulder injury in July 2019. It was so bad that it disrupted my simple daily activities and, of course, all the sports I love to do. I have been waiting for an MRI with still no word. When I was at an appointment with Dr. Melanie LeBlanc, chiropractor, she suggested I consult with Braedon, athletic therapist. I had never heard of an athletic therapist. Thank goodness I took her advice! The results are absolutely amazing! For the first time since the initial injury, I have much more pain-free movement in my shoulder and am seeing more and more improvement as days go by.

    • Barb

  • Years ago data showed my C5 nerve was severed. Subsequently the right arm was paralyzed and though I regained most of the arms function I lost the deltoid muscle through atrophy. The upside is I never gave trying. I had the fortune of meeting Braedon and with the help of Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES) and proper physical rehabilitation my deltoid is firing again and my muscle mass is coming back. It has been a long process and every bit worth it.
